Pacific Healthcare Institute is a private vocational institution located in the City of Burlingame, California, established in December 2011.
Our school offers numerous educational programs for young adults aspiring to achieve their dreams in the healthcare system.

Our mission is to cultivate a love of learning and to supply our students with the necessary tools and technical training to prepare entry-level registered nurses as providers of care across the health/illness spectrum and as members of their profession.
Our students, upon completion of the program, will be able to collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, be effective communicators, demonstrate leadership and social consciousness, and commit to lifelong learning.

She trusts that teaching/learning is a constant and collaborative practice. With her years of collective experience, she brings real-world knowledge, clinical skills, and personal passion to your profession.
Her faculty staff provide materials, assets, and direction to simplify learning; however, students must assume crucial accountability for their own learning.
Her faculty recognizes that students are adults with prior knowledge and experiences, and they differ in learning styles and needs; therefore, a diversity of instructional approaches and upkeep services are used to promote student accomplishment.

Our Core Health Programs
Pacific Healthcare Institute's academic programs instill the knowledge they will need to excel in their chosen profession. Our classes achieve excellence by employing a wide repertoire of teaching and learning strategies, and students are actively involved in the learning process. Our stimulating classes draw upon students' strengths and encourage them to push themselves to the outer limits of their abilities.
Nursing Assistant Training Program
The Nursing Assistant Training Program is a program that consists of 164 training hours: 60 hours of classroom instruction and 104 hours of supervised clinical and skills lab training at an accredited and state-approved facility. The program is designed to prepare qualified individuals to become safe and competent Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in a variety of healthcare facilities. The curriculum prepares them to take the program competency evaluation for State Certification.
Upon completion of the training, the students will be able to demonstrate appropriate and effective communication skills, assist with basic emergency procedures, apply the basic principles of infection control, and demonstrate behavior that promotes the resident's independence and prevents abuse. The student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to take the CNA proficiency examination and be certified by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
Home Health Aide Training Program
The Home Health Aide Training Program is a program that consists of 40 training hours: 20 hours of classroom instruction and 20 hours of supervised clinical and skills lab training at an accredited and state-approved facility.
The Home Health Aide Training Program is a program that teaches certified nursing assistant valuable skills to assist individuals who need care in our community.
After the completion of the training, students will learn how to assist with parts of daily living activities. The program consists of elderly, convalescent or disabled persons live in their own homes instead of healthcare facilities. Under the direction of nursing or medical staff, they provide health-related services, such as administering oral medications, monitor the patient's vital signs and help with simple prescribed exercises.
Home Health Aide will assist patients to get in and out of bed, bathe, dress and groom. On occasion, they may change non-sterile dressings, gives massages or provide skin care and assist with medical equipment such as ventilators which help patients breathe.
Upon successfully completing all the requirements of the course, the student will be awarded with a Certificate of Completion.
The student will also receive 24 CE contact hours for CNA State Certification.

Sterile Processing Technician Training Program
The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) Training Program is a program that consists of 120 training hours; 80 hours of instruction and 40 hours of skills training. This program will help students in the best practices for their profession.
The course is designed to prepare qualified individuals to become safe and competent SPT in a variety of healthcare facilities.
Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to learn carefully how to decontaminate, inspect, assemble and sterilize instruments and surgical trays, learn how to manage inventory control, order supplies, inspect, maintain, deliver and retrieve equipment and instruments for the surgery suites, emergency rooms and intensive care units. The curriculum prepares them to take the program competency evaluation for the board examination.
Upon successfully completion of the course, the students will receive a Certificate of Completion. This program will prepare the students to sit and take the board examination to be conducted by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD).
After passing the board examination, the successful certified students will then be qualified to be placed on an Externship Program to a facility in contract agreement with Niles College.

Our Other Health Services
Director of Staff Development Training Program
Pacific Healthcare Institute is pleased to offer the Director of Staff Development (DSD) Training Program. This DSD course is specially designed to prepare licensed nurses for duties as the DSD in a Skilled Nursing Facility or as an instructor in precertification programs for CNA. Students will receive training in planning, implementing and evaluating nurse education program. Specially, students will learn how to develop and maintain records, draft course outlines and lesson plans, develop long range and short range training plans and how to conduct training.
This 24-hour CE course as required by the CDPH (Title 22, Chap 2.5) for nurse wishing to be a DSD in a long-term care facility or to teach in a CNA training program.
At the end of this 24-hour, students will receive training on how to develop
a curriculum, use a curriculum excellently to demonstrate and how to evaluate
the knowledge of the topic taught to their students. They will be able to draft
course outlines as well as lesson plans and understands how to adapt each
educational topic to the target audience.

To qualify for this training course, a student must be a licensed RN's or LVN's and must satisfy one of the following:
One year experienced as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility, which also including planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs or,
Have a 2-yr full time experience as a licensed nurse, at least one of which must be in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course by American Heart Association
All ACLS students must purchase a current AHA ACLS book prior to the course. The American Heart Association requires all ACLS students to complete a Pre-Course exam and print out a certification of completion prior to the course.
Course Description:
The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology.
Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
Course Length:
Course length is approximately 10-12 hours for the initial course, and approximately 5-6.5 hours for the renewal course. Part 1 (cognitive portion) can be taken in an instructor-led training session or on a self-directed basis as an online eLearning course.
Students then practice their skills (Part 2) and are tested (Part 3) with a certified American Heart Association ACLS instructor.

ACLS training is intended for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of the hospital, including:
physicians
nurses
emergency medical technicians
paramedics
staff in intensive care units and emergency or critical care departments
other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency.
Note: Students must pass a written exam and skills test to qualify for an ACLS Course Completion Card. To be successful in any ACLS course, students should be able to identify ECG rhythms and should know pharmacology specific to cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies before beginning the course. It is strongly recommended that students review the ACLS course materials and complete a pre-course self-assessment using the tools in their student materials before starting the course.
BLS / CPR Training Class by American Heart Association
Pacific Healthcare Institute is pleased to offer the BLS CPR Training Course. The 4.5 hour American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Saver CPR/AED adult & pediatric certification class covers Adult, Child, Infant CPR, choking, and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This class is for initial certification and recertification including expired CPR certificates. The BLS certificate will be issued by AHA and is valid for 2 years.

Continuing Education and Professional Development / Continuing Education Units
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS FOR RN’S & LVN’S
Pacific Healthcare Institute for Continuing Education and Professional Development is pleased to offer Continuing Education for Nurses who are interested in broadening their skill, knowledge and abilities in the changing field of healthcare.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS FOR CNA'S
Pacific Healthcare Institute offers Continuing Education for CNA's and HHA's.
California requires 48 hours of in-service training for CNA's to meet continuing education requirements for renewal of certification.
The State requires every two years; nursing assistant must complete a minimum of 12 hours in-service in each year of the renewal period.
